We aim to ensure that all children take part in and enjoy appropriate sporting activities, both as part of the curriculum provision and in the after school clubs that are provided.
We encourage the children to both compete with themselves and each other and to co-operate as part of a team. Our annual sports day has a traditional, competitive nature together with a series of activities that all children can enjoy.
Together with many other schools in the area, we are part of the Canterbury Sports Partnership. This enables our children from all year groups to take part in competitions and activity days. We compete in a virtual league each term - our Sports Crew (made up of Key Stage Two children) record the results and these are submitted to the Partnership and compared with other schools. Lastly, the Partnership provides high quality training and support for our teachers.
In addition to regular lessons held at school, the children visit Simon Langton Boys School for swimming lessons with specialist teachers. Voluntary contributions are asked for to help meet the cost of these activities.
Xercise Innovation is our PE provider; every class has a PE lesson with Xercise Innovation on Thursdays. The lessons are taught by Mr Porter, a coach who is passionate about PE. They focus on a different sport, such as rugby, each term.
Additional weekly PE sessions are taught by the class teachers on our beautiful field or in the well-equipped school hall.
