Growing things...

At Petham, we really like growing things! We have our own vegetable gardens and, with the support of our wonderful parent volunteers, we made a rather sad-looking part of our playground into a beautiful sensory garden. We are now in the middle of transforming our corridor into a greenhouse, come and have a look at how well our seedlings grow.

At Petham, we value music and believe that every child should have the opportunity to regularly sing, listen to music and learn to play an instrument. We have a weekly singing assembly and every class has a weekly music lesson by our music specialist Mrs Blake. For those wanting to learn more, individual piano, cello and violin lessons are offered.

Fire Safety Day

12 images

On Tuesday 7th November we had a visit from firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service. They came to talk to us about fire safety and awareness. Each class had a personalised presentation which gave them advice and information to use in everyday life.

Eco Car

7 images

Every year our Year 6s build an Eco Car, from scratch, and they race their car against similar cars built by children from other schools. This year we will have two teams and two cars. An engineer comes every Friday afternoon to assist the children in building the car, and ensuring it works properly, but the children complete the bulk of the work themselves. They also design and make the exterior of their cars.

In between we played lots of maths games, tried to make the number 2018 in as many different ways as possible and cracked a few codes. We also raised £144 for the NSPCC.
